KarynRose Bruyning
KarynRose Bruyning was an American writer and director who was best known for writing, directing and co-creating the popular web series "Smoke and Mirrors" (2013- ). As a young girl Bruyning always wanted to tell stories for a living. She put all of her hopes and dreams into one day becoming a filmmaker, and found the joy of making stuff for the screen, whether it be for film, television or the web, to be her life's calling. After high school she attended the historic Tuskegee University, located in Tuskegee, Alabama, from 2000 to 2005. Bruyning studied English and Literature while attending the University, and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in 2005. After college she worked a variety of jobs, before co-founding the production company Christmas in July 1982 in 2009. She co-founded the company along with Artemus Jenkins, with their goal being to write, direct and produce content for film, television and the web. In December of 2012 she co-created the documentary web series "P.O.P." (2012-13). The series, about the lives of exotic dancers, was written and directed by Bruyning, and made in collaboration with her Christmas in July 1982 partner, Artemis Jenkins. In 2013 Bruyning wrote and directed a new relationship-themed web series called "Smoke and Mirrors." The series drew a lot of attention after it was uploaded on YouTube in the spring of 2013. Inspired by the unexpected popularity of the series, Bruyning decided to write and direct a season two. The second season of "Smoke and Mirrors" debuted in the spring of 2015.
