A graduate of the University of Southern California, King landed her first onscreen credit in 1987 with an appearance on the award-winning police drama "Hill Street Blues." The following year she landed a high-profile role on the primetime soap opera "Knots Landing" as Julie Williams, a character she portrayed until 1992. She spent the late '90s appearing on such sitcoms as "The Steve Harvey Show" and "The Parkers," and returned to daytime TV in 2000 when she guest-starred on the long-running soap opera "The Young and the Restless." After a brief stint on the short-lived soap "Port Charles," in 2005 King landed a role as Dr. Lainey Winters on "General Hospital." She portrayed the psychiatrist on both the daytime "General Hospital" and the 2007 primetime version, "General Hospital: Night Shift." King has since appeared in the 2008 short film "The Aphrikan" and the horror film "The Hillside Strangler."
