Trained in dramatic theater, British actor Mark Jackson didn't expect to one day don a robot suit for a science fiction show, but he brought his full range of talent to the role anyway. Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on Aug. 23, Jackson was raised by parents Andy and Jill alongside his younger sister, Danielle. He developed a passion for acting and took on an education in dramatic theater, earning two bachelor degrees to that end. He accumulated a number of stage credits, performing in "Noises Off," "One Man, Two Guvnors," "Black Coffee," and "War Horse," among others. His first screen appearance was a one-time role on the TV series "That Peter Kay Thing" (Channel 4, 2000). He guest starred in two episodes of "The Royal Today" (ITV, 2008) and appeared in the short films "Peppermint" (2013) and "The Kissing Booth" (2013). He capitalized on his vocal training by recording voice-overs for a variety of commercials and educational products. His stage and voice acting pursuits collided when producer Seth MacFarlane cast him as the artificial being Isaac on "The Orville" (Fox, 2017- ), for which Jackson acted on-camera in a full-body suit and provided the character's voice in post-production. He credited his British drama training for his instincts for physical expression that the performance required.
