Mark Lowry
American singer-songwriter, comedian and minister Mark Lowry was born in Houston, Texas. His music career started while he attended college, which led him to singing professionally in Baptist churches. It was there where Lowry began working on his comedy once he realized he could also make audiences laugh. In 1984, he wrote the lyrics to the famous Christmas song "Mary, Did You Know?", which has since been performed professionally by over thirty different artists, including Lowry himself. In 1988, he would go on to join the Gaither Vocal Band as the baritone, with which he performed for thirteen years, before resigning to work on his solo albums. He rejoined the band for another stint in 2009, and stayed for four years before leaving once again to focus on his music, comedy concerts, podcasts and a prolific YouTube channel.
