Matt Barr

Born in Allen, Texas in 1984, Matt Barr began acting in high school performances. As a senior in high school he auditioned for the original film adaptation of the book Friday Night Lights, which was to be directed by Richard Linklater. Although that version of the film didn't go on, Barr made a good impression, and a Linklater collaborator cast him in the coming of age story "Levelland" (2002). After filming, Barr moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. He landed a number of small supporting roles until appearing in a five-episode arc on "Commander in Chief" (ABC, 2005-06) starring Geena Davis as the first female president. In 2006, he had a multi-episode swing on "One Tree Hill" (The WB, 2003-06; The CW, 2006-2012), then landed his first series regular role on the limited horror/mystery series "Harper's Island" (CBS, 2009). His next series regular gig was on "Hellcats" (The CW, 2010-11). The show, centered on a college cheer squad, was cancelled after one season. Barr had his most positive exposure to date on the mini-series "Hatfields & McCoys" (History Channel, 2012), starring Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton. Barr played Johnson Hatfield, who fell in love with Roseanna McCoy and escalated the ongoing feud between the two families. He had a multi-episode arc on "Sleepy Hollow: (Fox, 2013-17), then played the object of affection fought over by Alexandra Daddario and Kate Upton in the critically panned film "Layover" (2017).
