Mick Mars
Born on May 4, 1951, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Robert Alan Deal, known professionally as Mick Mars, is an American musician. After seeing his first concert, Mars became inspired to play guitar. At 14, Mars played bass guitar in his first group, a Beatles cover group called The Jades. Throughout the 1970s, he played guitar in a few blues-based rock bands, sometimes using Zorky Charlemagne as his name. After nearly a decade in the California music scene, Mars reinvented himself, changing his name from Robert Deal to Mick Mars. In April 1980, he put a want ad in the newspaper, describing himself as "a loud, rude and aggressive guitar player." Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee contacted him, and hired him after hearing him play, just before forming Mötley Crüe. Throughout the years, Mötley Crüe has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. In 2015, Mars played with the band on what was reported at the time to be its final tour. Mötley Crüe reunited in 2018 and started touring again in 2022. On October 26, 2022, Mars announced his retirement from touring with Mötley Crüe. In February 2023, Mick Mars began work on a solo album titled "The Other Side of Mars."
