An expert crafter of tense action dramas, Paul Scheuring launched "Prison Break" in 2005, a runaway hit that led him to a career in bringing edgy thrillers to the small- and silver-screens. After working a series of odd jobs once he graduated from UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television, Scheuring dove head-first into moviemaking when he wrote, produced, directed, and even edited "36K," a low-budget crime thriller, in 2000. If that didn't catch the eyes of enough people in Hollywood, his next script "A Man Apart" did. The drug cartel action-drama was quickly picked up and produced, starring a very hot-at-the-moment Vin Diesel. Scheuring then turned a colleague's story idea into a miniseries script entitled "Prison Break" and brought it over to Fox studios, which initially passed on it. They quickly called him back after more unconventional serial shows like "Lost" and "The 4400" were hitting it big in the middle of the 2000s. In under two years, "Prison Break" premiered to raves and huge ratings. The series went on to become a flagship show for Fox from 2005 until 2009, with Scheuring penning over 70 episodes. He began work on his second feature film, 2010's " The Experiment" with Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker, which, like the 2001 German film "Das Experiment," was inspired by the "Stanford Prison Experiment" of the 1970s.
