Audience Member It's not an amazing watch of course, but it's not dreadful. It's a change of pace from the Halo games, more akin to something that would take place in the books. It's main purpose is to serve as an introduction to Locke's character, which I find rather good. If you're a Halo fan, that statement will most likely differ. A good watch, but is definitely a coin toss on whether other can stick with it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/24 Full Review Kaleb M It was all right. It has some plot holes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review streng g What a dissapointment. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Patrick B I'm not a big Halo video game player. I always liked the story better. I felt like this movie was a letdown, but not a disaster. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review Audience Member I feel like Halo: Nightfall is trying. The performances are decent, there are some suspenseful moments and it's admirable that this Expanded Universe material tried to do something new rather than being a generic action film/5-part miniseries. But alas, it was not to be. The characters are bland and forgettable (this extends to Luke Cage as well, by the way), the production values are subpar at best, it's not scary and any meaningful additions to the Halo lore are rendered moot by the end. While I do give Nightfall some credit for not being a glorified commercial for Halo 5 (seeing how it didn't really feel publicised as heavily as its direct predecessors, I think I can be forgiven for not even realising a new game came out back in 2015...note that I'm a PlayStation gamer but I'm aware of how Master Chief is such an iconic video game character that even people who neither own an Xbox nor are a part of the PC Master Race know that the Halo IP exists), the change into Alien-style sci-fi horror (and what a coincidence, this is from Ridley Scott's production company) didn't turn out as well as 343 Industries had hoped, instead further calling attention to how much Microsoft's gaming mascot was past his prime...though I heard he's making a hell of a comeback in Infinite, so that's nice.
