Judy Berman TIME Magazine More than its action or intrigue, what makes The Lazarus Project such a compelling work of science fiction is its insights into human psychology and relationships. Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Leila Latif Guardian This twisty time-loop thriller gets even more dramatic in its second outing. Paapa Essiedu’s George is a jittery joy in a smart, sharply scripted show that’s lots of fun to watch Rated: 4/5 Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Jasper Rees Daily Telegraph (UK) The handsome cast inject as much humanity as they can, especially into quieter scenes. Some dialogue is beyond redemption... Rated: 3/5 Nov 15, 2023 Full Review Alberto Carlos Espinof The Lazarus Project delves further into its internal chaos, offering a great, addictive science fiction thriller that moves well with a dose of adventure and conspiracy (within the conspiracy) typical of espionage. J D I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1. Exciting new premise and storyline. Wish I could say the same for Season 2, so far. I am hopelessly lost and find it difficult to follow the convoluted storyline. I find it hard to discern one timeline from the other. It seems impossibly twisted. Will watch to the finale, then maybe watch again if possible. Maybe then it will make sense. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Domenick The colossal failure here is painful. Its tempting to want to root for the genre (Sci-Fi!) and the cast, many of whom have been great in other things. And Season 1 was watchable - essentially asking the question: would you risk screwing up the entire universe to save someone you loved? The end of that season steered the plot into a cul-de-sac (always a risk or even a likelihood given the set up). So what to do when trapped by a one-note gimmick? The creative team behind Lazarus decided to try to hold eyeballs by just turning the violence to 11 and even trying to milk the violence for laughs: there's a repeated gag (6-7x by now) around the aesthetically unpleasing brain-splatter that showers Shiv every time George executes his EMT neighbor with a gunshot to the back of his head. Also an attempted comedic sequence recounting all the people George shot to death in a late season-one episode. The franchise has been quickly reduced to lots of carnage signifying nothing of interest. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Dr L Interesting premise, Liked the way they covered their version of how time travel works.1 Acting was good ,Great UK Sci-Fi series better then season 1. Pretty much run its cause I don't think its has a third season in it happy where they left off Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review SundayNightStreaming o The Lazarus Project Season 2 - 9.1 - This is easily the best time travel show on tv in my opinion. The concept and the execution is fantastic, with everything that happens to George it is all calculated, just like season 1 but this season already established everything so they really just got right into the magic from the get go. The premise of this season is they discover a real time machine, not just reset check points whenever the world ends. We get to see a lot of backstory on the characters, redoing of many separate events here and there and the whole gang is along for the ride. George goes from nuking the entire world to save his girlfriend in season 1, to his girlfriend leaving him anyway after all that, to getting kicked out of Lazarus, then finally saves everyone by getting his colleagues daughter out of 2012 and back to 2024. Yes it is very wacky and complex, but for how complex it is, it flows and makes sense. They often have you relive events multiple times to establish that they went back in time and it really makes the viewing great. Characters see themselves in the past, meet old friends, go through old events, and yet it all works. A lot of shows struggle with time travel, but this show really set the bar high. Not only with the execution but with the delivery. By the end of the season there is a massive cliffhanger, meaning that an inevitable season 3 is coming, this series you have to pay attention to, but it is an incredibly fun ride once you strap in. This time loop thriller has been one of my favorite watches of the year, and one l highly recommend. Worth the watch, official sundaynightstreaming rating of 9.1 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Eric B The first season had story issues but was at least immensely well made and directed. This one drops down another notch on both of these fronts, from somewhat flawed story/premise to very iffy and often frustrating, and from excellent production values to merely decent ones. Suddenly characters are having deep emotional dialogue while carrying out extremely sensitive tasks like invading a lab while holding machine guns. Really, you're going to chat about your relationship while holding an automatic rifle in shooting position?? Either the situation isn't dangerous in which case lose the rifle, or you should be concentrating on the job at hand. Then there's the very cheesy notion that characters would only ever do anything, like invent time travel, because of losing a loved one. Never mind that most of the greatest scientific inventions were mostly made by people who just couldn't help themselves but be obsessed by science and mostly *at the expense* of their personal relationships. But I guess that doesn't provide for as much cheesy drama? After really enjoying Giri/Haji I thought Joe Barton might be the next big name in TV, and the way s1 of this show started I was ready for this show to confirm that notion, but soon enough the family and romance melodrama started and it's been pretty much steadily downhill from there. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/24 Full Review Tangui 1 Very nice season, super excited to see season 3, it really deserves season 3 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/24 Full Review Read all reviews
