Rachel Hurd-Wood
Rachel Hurd-Wood is a young British actress who landed directly in the spotlight with her first film role as Wendy Darling in P.J. Hogan's 2003 adaptation of J.M. Barrie's fantastical tale "Peter Pan." The daughter of actor Philip Hurd-Wood, she has also appeared onscreen with her younger brother, Patrick. Hurd-Wood's turn as Wendy led to more parts, including a supporting role in the English TV movie "Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking," starring Rupert Everett and Ian Hart as Holmes and Dr. Watson, respectively. After appearing in the eerie horror film "An American Haunting" in 2005, Hurd-Wood was memorably featured in Tom Tykwer's bold period drama "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" as the beautiful red-haired daughter of a French nobleman who becomes the target of a very unusual killer. She continued to turn up in movies set in yesteryear, notably in "Dorian Gray," an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's classic novel, "The Picture of Dorian Gray," and "Solomon Kane," a fantasy/action film about a vengeance-seeking mercenary played by James Purefoy. Intent on continuing her studies, Hurd-Wood still found time to co-star with Caitlin Stasey in the tense 2010 Australian drama "Tomorrow, When the War Began," based on the young-adult novel by John Marsden.
