Over the course of his 30-year career, Randy Roberts has directed and edited everything from crime dramas to courtroom thrillers, in addition to serving as the president of the American Cinema Editors association. Roberts began his career editing films like "Straight Time," starring Dustin Hoffman as an ex-con trying to go straight, and the George Burns comedy "Oh, God! You Devil." While he continued to work as an editor, most notably on the critically-acclaimed medical drama "Chicago Hope" and the often-controversial Steven Bochco legal series "L.A. Law," Roberts found steady work as a TV director; he helmed multiple episodes of "Tour of Duty," an Emmy-award winning series about a U.S. Army unit during the Vietnam War, and worked on the time-travel adventure series "Quantum Leap." He directed and produced several episodes of "Early Edition," a science-fiction series about a Chicago stockbroker who mysteriously receives tomorrow's paper today, and edited numerous segments of the popular anthology program "Alfred Hitchcock Presents." Roberts has since produced over 150 episodes of the long-running "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," which follows a close-knit squad of New York City detectives as they solves cases that are typically based on real-life events.
