Actor-musician Robert Cray made a splash in Hollywood both on and off-screen for three decades. He worked in series television while getting his start in acting, including a part on "Austin City Limits" (PBS, 1974-2015). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Tina Turner: Break Every Rule" (HBO, 1986-87) and "Late Night With David Letterman Sixth Anniversary Show" (NBC, 1987-88). Cray also contributed music to the Christopher Reeve thriller "Street Smart" (1987). In the eighties and the nineties, Cray's music mostly appeared in films like the Robert Arthur dramedy "Skin Deep" (1989) and "When A Man Loves A Woman" (1994) with Andy Garcia. Cray continued to exercise his talent in the nineties, taking on a mix of projects like "Mother" (1996), "Can't You Hear the Wind Howl?" (1997) and "Cop Land" with Sylvester Stallone (1997). His credits also expanded to "Like It Is" (1998) starring Steve Bell. Cray most recently appeared on the documentary "Lightning in a Bottle" (2004) with Aerosmith.
