Soap opera star and film actor Robert Hogan was born and raised in New York City, where he made his stage debut off-Broadway alongside a young Robert Duvall in 1961. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he soon landed work on shows like the long-running private eye drama "77 Sunset Strip" and the Golden Globe winning western "Cheyenne." Throughout the 1960s he had consistent film and television work, with the occasional TV character arc, like that of Rev. Tom Winter on the primetime soap opera "Peyton Place." In the 1970s he shifted to daytime soaps with the role of Burt Marshall on the Port Charles set soap "General Hospital." Throughout the 1980s he continuously landed TV work including recurring roles on the Angela Lansbury detective drama "Murder, She Wrote" on another daytime soap, the Bay City based "Another World." In the 1990s he returned to Broadway where he appeared in notable works by Aaron Sorkin, Neal Bell, and John Logan. He always punctuated this stage work with further film and TV roles, and may be remembered by some as theoretical gambler Louis Sobotka on the second season of the critically acclaimed HBO crime drama "The Wire." Throughout the later 2000s he turned up in a number of indies while continuing his stage career, mostly in off-Broadway productions. Robert Hogan died on May 27, 2021 in ME at the age of 87.
