The group toured all over Mexico and released four studio albums. However, her breakthrough came when she became a member of the wildly popular Mexican telenovela "Quinceañera" (Canal de las Estrellas, 1987-88). Her captivating performance earned her national recognition, and she soon transitioned to a singing career. Thalía's experimentation with the pop and electronic music genres was a hit with music critics on her third album "Love" (1992). Meanwhile, she was furthering her reputation as a leading lady in telenovelas with her iconic performance in "Maria Mercedes" (Canal de las Estrellas, 1992-93). Her fourth and fifth studio albums, "En éxtasis" (1995) and "Amor a la Mexicana" (1997) would become classics throughout Latin America, earning Thalía the title The Queen of Latin Pop. Her success in Latin America spread to the world when the single "Amor a la Mexicana" became a number one hit in 14 countries. Thalía's crossover success into the English-speaking market occurred with her next two albums "Arrasando" (2000) and "Thalía" (2002) earning Latin Grammy nominations. Thalía went on to release nearly two dozen albums during her career. In 2013, she earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2017 she tried her hand at directing, earning praise at the 70th Directors Guild of America Awards for her documentary series "15: A Quinceañera Story" (2017).
