Walter Scharf produced music for multiple Hollywood productions during the course of his Hollywood career. Scharf worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including "Atlantic City" (1944) starring Constance Moore. Scharf won a Best Original Song - Motion Picture Golden Globe Award for "Ben" in 1972. Scharf was nominated for a Music (Music Score of a Dramatic Picture) Academy Award for "Mercy Island" in 1941 as well as for a Music (Music Score of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture) Academy Award for "The Fighting Seabees" in 1944. In the fifties, Scharf devoted his time to various credits, such as "Artists and Models" (1955) starring Dean Martin, "You're Never Too Young" with Dean Martin (1955) and "The Birds and the Bees" with George Gobel (1956). He also worked on "Timetable" (1956). Scharf's music was also featured in the comedy "If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium" (1969) with Suzanne Pleshette. Scharf was most recently credited in "Method To The Madness of Jerry Lewis" (Starz, 2011-12). Soon after receiving his award, he went on to write songs which would be featured in "Ben" (1972). Scharf passed away in February 2003 at the age of 93.
