Bill Stamets Chicago Sun-Times [Director] Boe's technique has more flash than passion. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 23, 2007 Full Review Raven Snook Time Out Although the film, much like its protagonist and his piano playing, lacks a certain passion, its stylistic structure and execution are coolly flawless. Rated: 4/6 May 10, 2007 Full Review Stephen Holden New York Times In Allegro, the past is a shadowy night town whose geography is continually rearranging itself. Rated: 2.5/5 May 9, 2007 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film Part romance, part animation, part sci-fi thriller - Boe uses any and every tool he can get his hands on to tell this tale of emotional isolation and resolution. Rated: 4/5 Jul 27, 2009 Full Review Anton Bitel Projected Figures Christoffer Boe continues to remap Copenhagen with this arthouse sci-fi trip into the outer regions of love, identity and oblivion. A little ponderous perhaps, but non troppo. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 15, 2007 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide Spare, elegant and tailor-made for intense discussions over dark coffee, Boe's film is a slily bold and delightfully inventive variation on an age-old theme. Audience Member The director's follow-up to brilliant Reconstruction, unfortunately, fails to deliver. It's very similar in style, but lacks in substance. While the debut feature was delightfully cryptic and featured great chemistry between the leads, this movie has neither. Perhaps it still could have been a great short - it really feels like a mediocre Twilight Zone episode stretched into numbingly long 90 minutes. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Overly pretentious, convoluted, slow and boring. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I suppose the aesthetics of the film are unique in that they aren't easily forgotten, but overall the movie seemed rather inconsistent to me. The narration seemed out of place. I would watch it again out of curiosity, but I don't look back on it with very fond of memories. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't get convinced by Helena Christensen or their love, which is a pretty important part of the film, but apart from that, the dialogues and little details are quite genious Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Maybe Danish cinema is not my cup of tea. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Who knew? Helena Christensen can act! Granted, she's barely in the film but she brings an understated elegance and melancholy to her character. If you liked "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," this movie is for you as the plots are curiously similar. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
