Audience Member A brilliant Canadian comedy. I never get tired of it. This movie will make you laugh just as it will make you stressed. Fulfilled with Canadians exclusive jokes and action scenes with a surprising touch of humor, the story is moving surprisingly well. It is about hockey, but they made a pretty good scenario with it. Really surprising. The main performances are phenomenal just as the camera work is. Again, it makes the action scenes so perfect and realistic. The turning point of the movie is clearly the entertaining you get. You'll have some great time if you, like me, are a bilingual Canadian that is a hockey fan and like great humor. Laughs guaranteed, just like stress. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Liam D A unique entry to a tired genre this Comedy Thriller is a fun and dark movie in a genre that has been repeating over and over again as check this underrated gem. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/23/20 Full Review Audience Member With a truly Canadian story, Bon Cop Bad Cop delivers so much as a Canadian film, especially using the stereotypes of English (Ontario) Canadians and French Canadians. The story builds on the history of tensions between the Quebec and Ontario to bring pure comedy. While the hockey themed villain is a little corny in theory, the movie takes the cliched buddy cop film dynamic and gives a unique take on it. The movie keeps the audience guessing as to who the villain is or could be, not to mention the brilliant use of Canadian comedian Rick Mercer as it was done to perfection. As a Canadian comedy it never has gotten the spotlight it deserves but to those who stumble upon it are in for a truly Canadian treat. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member solid buddy cop movie with interesting character, good plot and good action Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/22/18 Full Review Audience Member A dead body, hanging over the sign on the border of Quebec and Ontario. Neither the French nor the English police are at first willing to claim responsibility for the body, but when one side steps up, the other side also decides that actually, they'd like custody. And so they're both fighting over the body, which splits in half and drops on both side of the border. Which of course means both cops have to team up, and we get the typical buddy cop movie (albeit with a bit of darker twist). The whole premise works better than you'd think; buoyed by two strong & likeable lead characters, and some workmanlike cinematography. A few explosions, car chases, a shootout on an abandoned cargo ship, and some more explosions, and the film wraps itself up neatly. Recommended if you're just looking to be entertained for 2 hours. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member An unexpectedly good movie, I'm glad to see that we have a really fun, good movie here in Québec. Peter Howell Toronto Star Worth seeing for the delightful banter between Feore and Bouchard. Rated: 3/4 Aug 18, 2006 Full Review Stephen Cole Globe and Mail As with all buddy movies, Bon Cop Bad Cop succeeds on the strength of the leads' rapport. Rated: 3/4 Aug 18, 2006 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse A blatantly commercial film that has all the elements of American blockbusters and poutine jokes. Rated: 3/5 Jan 31, 2021 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending Largely fun... But there is one caveat: it is almost certainly impossible to completely love this film if you're not a bilingual Canadian. Rated: 3/5 Aug 27, 2017 Full Review Brendan Kelly Montreal Gazette Bon Cop Bad Cop is what it is, and no more: un bon summer entertainment. Rated: 3/5 May 25, 2017 Full Review Brian Webster Apollo Guide Its good-hearted probing of Canada's social and cultural balancing act likely will do more to promote harmony in Canada than a whole raft of political speeches.
