Peter Debruge Variety UFO-spotting crazies and their fellow conspiracy theorists have a friend in Dale Sweeney in I'll Believe You, an off-kilter extraterrestrial comedy. Nov 13, 2007 Full Review John Monaghan Detroit Free Press Cult movies have been made with a lot less, but this one, harmless enough, doesn't have enough originality or personality to get it off the ground. Audience Member A different storyline from the usual stuff .... Pretty good "B" movie Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm pretty sure a deaf guy listening to deaf musicians chose the music for this movie. Also, the editing is horrible--the jumpy camera in the playground scene was the first laugh the movie got out of me. It couldn't seem to be able to contain all three characters in the same shot, the poor thing. However, Ed Helms was great. Blew Chris Elliot's oddly shirtless performance out of the water. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I could tell this was a low budget movie at the start of the first scene, but it sort of fit the (very weak) plot, I have been to Melbourne Florida, and the film was shot there and it is central to the plot. Everyone knows Florida has it's share of wing nuts, this movie would give one the impression that everyone that lives there is not normal, not too beliveable. I purchased this on DVD and I almost was not able to finish watching this, and I am an American in Afghanistan, where there is a severe shortage of movies to choose from. For me the film was too slow to get to the point, poorly edited, almost absent of any special effects for a Sci-Fi Comedy, and I never really cared about the 3 main Characters. The acting seemed forced and the actors uncomfortable in their roles. The one saving grace in the film is Patrick Warburton, it was good to see him going beyond his Puddy and the Tick cadence and really do some acting . There is also a fair bit of improve by Chris Elliott, Ed Helms and Warburton but when known stars are on screen and going off script riffing during improve, Basche, Pleasants and Gallo seem star struck and, stunned, obviously out classed as actors, instead of being able to play off the other actors lines. I wanted it to be better. The DVD does have some extras, and I admit I watched the making of and saving of I'll Believe You, and in it, almost everyone in the making of admitted it was a bad movie. Good idea, but poorly executed. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Very weak. The characters aren't strong and the story line is blah... there are several funny moments, but it's not worth it really. I got it just to heck out Ed Helms, but he's not much in it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member average and not at all worth anything. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Only the second time I've seen this movie. The first was at the world premiere. It held up surprisingly well.
