Sean S Horrendous acting even if this is supposed to be a spoof. Painful acting to sit through. I almost felt embarrassed for the actors and cringey watching it. This was barely ok for background noise, but that is about it... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a slasher movie about a killer lawnmower. Yes. A goddamn killer LAWNMOWER! Considering the premise, it's pretty hilarious and ends up being loads of fun. I mean, how can you NOT have fun with a movie that treats a possessed lawnmower like we're in Jaws, complete with a Captain Ahab. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/21/22 Full Review Audience Member The Tall Grass Country Club is a gorgeous piece of heaven on Earth, but just like Amity, once a major tourist event starts happening, it doesn't matter how many dead bodies show up. Things will proceed according to schedule. Except that instead of a great white, Tall Grass is dealing with, well, a possessed lawnmower. I got past the Troma logo at the beginning — their cityscape and jingle have made me rage quit many a film — and am glad I did. Blades is an adorable film if your definition of adorable means that people are repeatedly torn to shreds by landscaping equipment gone wrong. This is the kind of movie that can get away with the tagline "Just when you thought it was safe to putt." And the closing credits set up a sequel that never came: Hedges. "Just when you thought it was safe to trim." Blades was written by the same man who wrote and directed Girl School Screamers, John P. Finnegan. That should give you a little fair warning of what you're in for. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a solid movie the cast was amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Caddyshack meets Jaws in this 1989 tongue-in cheek slasher movie. Members of a prestigious country club are being found torn to shreds and strewn across the golf course. The club's newly appointed head-pro along with a former greenskeeper suspect something non-human and must solve the murders before innocent people get lynched... Of course the killer is a possessed lawnmower!! PMSL! The movie is surprisingly well made. It's intentionally tongue in cheek with an opening scene mimicking the opening moments of Jaws. Blades is shot really well, edited smoothly and were it not for a schlocky premise it could well have been a credible film. The same way Russell Malcahy's Jaws parody 'Razorback' found a cult following, so too has 'Blades' over the years. Troma should be proud to have this one in their catalogue. I just watched it again and it's heaps fun! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Blades is yet another thoroughly crappy but completely entertaining horror farce from Troma studios that hilariously transforms the slasher into a sentient killer lawnmower at a rich country club golf course.
