Just a great tv show that started my interest in Dennis Farina (RIP) and you can't beat the theme song 'Runaway' sung by Del Shannon (RIP). The theme which was a newer version of his song, is my favorite version. I watched this show every Friday night when I was a teenager.

One of the best cop and mobster television shows ever made. Season 1 is the best of the 2 seasons in my opinion. Season 1, all 21 episodes, is more like a great but enjoyably long movie. Session 1 is addictive. Season 2 is too disjointed and has poor writing and episode continuity. Crime Story is ranked at the top of my list even though it was filmed in 1967 and depicts 1963 Detroit. Dennis Farina plays Detective Torrello who leads a hard hitting squad of detectives on a hunt for one of the mobs fastest rising new stars Ray Luca. Leaving Detroit he and his squad follow Luca to Las Vega now deputized as Federal Marshals. The writing is awesome. The show will have you rooting for the cops but liking the mobsters just a well.

Me gusta mucho la banda sonora, la recreación de la época, las actuaciones. En cuanto al guión, no es super original pero, en conjunto, disfruté cada capítulo de esta serie.

Executive produced by Michael Mann (Heat, Thief, Heist, etc.) with a strong lead in Dennis Farina and loads of great supporting and guest stars (Kevin Spacey, Pam Grier, Ving Rhames, Jon Polito, Bill Campbell, and many more), Crime Story is a great, classic detective show. Imagine The Wire set in the 1960s and filmed in the 1980s... you'll have a pretty good idea of what Crime Story is like (and I see some foreshadowing of Twin Peaks in some of the production style).

A good ‘throw back' police TV show; cool old cars, well researched sets and period correct props. An easy show to watch.

This 1986 television pilot film was created by the success of tv's Miami Vice. Michael Mann was given freedom to spend and do whatever he wished which resulted in this 2 season blockbuster.

While short lived due to rival network popular shows, it is credited with being the model for The Sopranos and the movie Casino by Martin Scorsese. The weekly episodes featured future stars such as Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, David Caruso.

The Pilot "Crime Story":
Set in Chicago, 1963: the Major Crime Unit commanded by Lt. Michael Torrello foils an armed robbery that ends in a car chase & gunfight. The robbery's young mastermind, street hood Ray Luca--ruthless, fearless, ambitious & ingenious--moves on to his next score, a museum burglary engineered by college student Johnny O'Donnell, son of Torrello's old friend.

NOTES:
1 Crime Story is an American TV drama, created by Gustave Reininger and Chuck Adamson, that premiered in 1986 and ran for two seasons on NBC. The executive producer was Michael Mann, who had left his other series Miami Vice to oversee Crime Story and direct the film Manhunter.
2 Martin Scorsese directed and produced his movie Casino loosely basing it on elements of Crime Story, which was recognized at the "Casino" premiere as an inspiration.
