Jason T My personal favorite Dracula movie Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Andy B One of the best 80's horror movies with a great mix of goofy and gruesome. The recent 4K transfer makes it look like it was filmed yesterday with even most of the effects holding up well. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review tim s A seminal example of 80's horror. Fright Night stands the test of time with an original story, amazing practical effects, and charismatic villain. Chris Sarandon's Jerry Dandridge is one of the best antagonists ever. On the surface he appears completely normal but his ghastly vampire side lurks within. Also turning in a tour de force performance is Roddy McDowell as Peter Vincent. His washed-up actor & TV host expertly blends fear and bravery. If you're a horror fan this one's for you. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review matthias s "Fright Night" is a quintessential 80's horror flick that's a nostalgic rollercoaster of campy fun. While it may not earn a place in the horror hall of fame, it's a delightful guilty pleasure for any fan of the genre. The standout feature of the movie is its depiction of vampires. With its over-the-top, seductive, and menacing characters, it captures the essence of classic bloodsuckers perfectly. Chris Sarandon's portrayal of the suave vampire Jerry Dandrige is especially memorable. The film's blend of horror and humor adds to its charm, creating a unique atmosphere that keeps you engaged. The neighbor-turned-vampire-hunter plot is a simple yet effective concept that works well for a popcorn movie night. However, "Fright Night" doesn't escape some of the pitfalls of 80's horror, including cheesy special effects and occasional predictability. But that's part of its charm. If you're in the mood for a trip down memory lane and a good laugh with your screams, give "Fright Night" a watch – just don't expect it to keep you up at night. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Jelisije J A nice little comedy vampire movie that is both corny and a bit over the top. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/31/23 Full Review david c fright night is excellent in it's characters and its plot, who needs more. Budd Wilkins Slant Magazine Tom Holland’s Fright Night uses the trappings of old-fashioned monster movies to explore sexual terrain that’s decidedly from the 1980s. Rated: 3.5/4 Nov 3, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review With a concept that revolves around what happens when a horror-loving teenage boy suspects his new neighbor to be a vampire, the result fondly remembers a simpler time for the genre, and predates Scream’s self-referential style by more than a decade.
