John J. O'Connor New York Times No good will come of detailing how this film's narrative departs from classical mythology to traffic in baser materials from 'Superman' to 'Star Wars.' Suffice it to say that the results are a tribute to the materials. Jun 29, 2018 Full Review Alan Jones Starburst The new mythological hero sub-genre dies still- born with Hercules. CodyZamboni Z Cheap, campy, silly, colorful, and kinda boring. With ultra low grade, amateurish stop motion and miniature fx, Lou is jacked, and his athleticism works well for character, Hot sexy costumes for Circe, Sybil and Princess Cassiopeia, Good dubbing, Old school filmmaking of montages, fades, double exposures, As movie tells story of Hercules from birth thru his many exploits, that ultimately spans the solar system, Lots of Greek mythology mash ups, Also lots of dull posturing by pretentious gods looking down on the action. Low budget evident when producers had to use footage from Grizzly ( 1976 ) and Quo Vadis ( 1951 ) to spice up the action. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/01/25 Full Review Audience Member Since I first saw this movie (in Theatre) has been the lowest bar for which I've measured all other movies. 35 years at bottom is a truly Herculean accomplishment. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Sometimes strange, mostly uninspiring. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Everything was incompetent (acting, narrative, script, fight scenes, etc). The effects were cheesy and cheap. The whole thing was cheesy and cheap. That's why I liked it. A near perfect bad movie; awful and entertaining. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Uncle P Not the best movie, but remotely entertaining when there's nothing else to watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/01/23 Full Review Audience Member If you liked The Room, you're gonna LOVE Hercules. It's basically the adventures of Captain Beefcake (Lou Ferrigno) in ancient Greece, battling robots with lasers and stuff. The leading lady was played by a female version of William Shatner, albeit far more sartorially awesome. The costumes, the special effects, the acting, the directing, the totally random addition of outer-space elements, the whole thing just makes you scream out, OMG, I can't believe they made this. It's so fantastically bad in so many awesome ways, you can't resist it, you'll laugh, you'll smile, you'll learn absolutely nothing about the story of Hercules but it will be awesome.
