Audience Member A metamorphosis of the old crazily imaginative 50's sic-fi movies brought back to life with state-of-the-art slimy 90's effects. A gooey mutant stereotype, but fun to watch. This review is for Metamorphosis: The Alien Factor (for which the cover shows, AKA the deadly spawn II) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is like the retarded step-cousin of Altered States. You wait the entire movie for something to happen, but nothing of any interest ever does. Movies like this usually rely heavily on special effects and makeup, but this being a cheap Italian ripoff means that pennies must be pinched in the best effort to turn a buck. So most of the makeup is pathetic gray hair spray and a silly makeup job that looks like unfinished set pieces for The Incredible Melting Man. Then the end happens and it's so "wtf?" that it almost redeems this mess. You get the burn ward version of Barney the Dinosaur and it is the most absurd thing I've almost ever seen in a movie because it's supposed to be serious. It almost makes the journey worth it. ALMOST. But not quite. Everything is so bad that it's really only worth finding a clip of the ending and sparing yourself the pain. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Shameless rip-off of The Fly with no emotion or thrill- but I did like the reptilian twist. The effects are pretty cheesy, and sadly ever on screen. The characters are mostly generic, often bland at times. The plot is weird, dumb, but interesting enough. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Mill Creek's 50 Movie Pack: Chilling Classics Reviews METAMORPHOSIS [1990]: From 1990 a low budget American horror film which sees a Medical Researcher developing an Anti-Aging Serum. His research has leaded him to isolate the genetic code for aging and death. With threats of the University (which he works for) to suspend the project and threaten to cut the funding; The Researcher injects the serum into his body which has dire results. THOUGHTS: With a bare basics plotline that has been constantly recycled a thousand times before. METAMORPHOSIS is another run-of-the-mill mad doctor film which harks back to the 1940's Poverty Row Horror films of Bela Lugosi. Silly, a bit tacky, and a bit beyond belief at points, METAMORPHOSIS is worthy of a 40% rating. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant professor Houseman is close to unlocking the genetic code but the University is set to end his funding. To prove his theories, he experiments on himself with predicatbly disasterous results. Shocking transformation at end worth a look.
