Connor S Perhaps even better than the original, which says a lot. It's 50/50, but just as wonderful scenery, acting, and musical score all make you feel like you're on the shores of Tahiti 200+ years ago. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review anthony m Beautifully photgraphed with Brando in top form. Thoroughly engaging saga of the sea, the three hours sails by. The story pits a foppish first mate [Brando] against a sado-masochitic captain supported by the naval code of conduct of ship's officers and their captain. On a symbolic level, the BOUNTY is the world in which absolute authority can be so oppressive that even a well-bred gentleman and officer must fight violence with violence. SPOILER ALERT! the gentleman loses. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/29/24 Full Review James B Brando is a miscast, but the movie checks a lot of boxes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/28/23 Full Review t z Adventure on the High Seas! Though it's not exactly Lawrence Of Arabia on the high seas it does capture the flavor of Tahiti in the same way Lawrence captures the flavor of the desert and the way most Epics of the 50s through the 70s do. Brando's Mister Christian isn't up to competing with O'Toole's Lawrence, but it is a perfectly adequate foil to Trevor Howard's Bligh. I enjoy it for the 60s Epic it is. Just as I enjoy the 1935 version for what it is and the 1985's The Bounty for what it is. Beautiful shots of Tahiti, a great soundtrack and Howard and Brando chewing up the scenery with over the top performances. Makes me laugh like King Hitihiti! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review kevin o ...a brilliant must see film. The acting is first rate and Brando is excellent.A true epic the likes of which are no longer made.Shot in super panavision by a director [s] who understood how to use the wide screen.Sit back and be swept away. Derek Adams Time Out Brando makes a total mess of his English accent, the romantic interlude in Tahiti goes on endlessly, and the visuals (perhaps the main point of interest in the movie) too often resort to travelogue vistas and picture postcard lighting. Feb 9, 2006 Full Review Bosley Crowther New York Times ...Marlon Brando makes Fletcher Christian an eccentric who dominates the entire dramatic scheme. Rated: 3/5 May 9, 2005 Full Review Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: 4/5 Nov 27, 2003 Full Review Marlene Matouk Tampa Bay Times It's a gigantic, physical long movie... visually and emotionally enduring. Sign on for a spree, you won't be sorry. Jan 13, 2021 Full Review Clyde Gilmour Maclean's Magazine The panoramic color photography does ample justice to billowing sails, Tahitian scenery and gory violence afloat. Oct 7, 2019 Full Review Dwight MacDonald Esquire Magazine MGM spent some $20,000,000 on the film. They could have saved most of it and had a better picture by sticking to the Bligh-Christian conflict and omitting the Spectacular Clutter. Aug 9, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
