Audience Member Really enjoyed this one. Not your typical western. Oh yes I still recommend it James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas, May 20, 2023. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/20/23 Full Review Audience Member directed and starring the late Kirk Douglas this is a Western that makes itself stand out from the usual crowd of this genre Howard Nightingale goes after an outlaw attempting to rob a train therefore it might help him get elected as U.S. senator Jack Strawhorn played by Bruce Dern is his primary target so Nightingale assembles a posse group of law enforcers to track him down it should be a simple snatch and grab criminal job but it proves to be more politically puzzling who's actually benefiting from this whole thing? the most impressive portion of the movie is the train sequence with it being on fire and going entirely backwards both Douglas and Dern are the highlights of this non-traditional Western changing sides back and forth about what's more in their favor is winning the respect and love of the public over a criminal's demise just or it it too self-serving for a political agenda? the ending is pretty anti-climatic, I'd say this is an above average effort from Douglas but he isn't terrible in it with the addition of Dern it's a good time waster standing out from a lot of familiar movies like this Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review delysid d another cool old western with bruce dern Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/27/19 Full Review ashley h Posse is a decent film. It is an unscrupulous marshal and his deputies who chase a gang of train robbers.Kirk Douglas and Bruce Dern give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Kirk Douglas also did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the adventure. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member For the most part a fairly dull western. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member 161204: There are many shades between good and evil. This is a complex, yet somewhat light-hearted film operating under a dark foreboding. Though Jack Strawhorn (Bruce Dern) is a killer and a thief, the eventual evil lies somewhere else. The real question is where? Great story but why anyone ever thought it would be a good idea to dress Strawhorn in a hardly worn, blue jean jacket is beyond me? Good thing they did the posse so perfectly. Neat, and fun, film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
