From the start there is a chase, rushed love, excused exit, and quickly skips the viewer into the undercover aspect. Schwarzenegger is charming, and lean with his dialogue. The movie could have played up any number of relationships or friendships, to give higher stakes beyond the main character and old buddy. However, all failed to create a lasting impact. So win or lose, the stakes really felt emotionally indifferent. There certainly was potential. Probably why I keep watching it. Hoping to see some unappreciated aspect lurking within a raw deal.

It's well done movie, Raw Deal, 1986, directed by John Irvin, from a story of Sergio Leone's screenwriters Luciano Vincenzoni and Sergio Donati... Final shot is good especially the "Nurse" with excellent performance... Arnold Schwarzenegger portrays fairly fine...

This plot is so simple that perhaps the most amazing achievement of Raw Deal is its ability to screw it up. This movie didn't just happen to be a mess; the filmmakers had to work to make it so confusing.
