After Rebecca (Shirley Temple) is mistakenly rejected at an audition for a radio advertising campaign, her stepfather takes her upstate to stay at Sunnybrook Farm with her Aunt Miranda (Helen Westley), who bans her from show business. Meanwhile, advertising exec Tony Kent (Randolph Scott) desperately searches for Rebecca, who he has only heard, unaware that she's on the farm next to his. Tony's search is interrupted by many things -- including Rebecca's attractive cousin, Gwen (Gloria Stuart).

Roberto N 06/30/2024 A star of yesterday and most definitely a star of today See more 08/05/2019 Shirley Temple is, possibly, the greatest child star that ever was or ever will be. At the very least, she will certainly go down in history as the most universally popular. Between the ages of 7 and 10, she was the top box-office draw for 4 years in a row, beating out other popular actors like Clark Gable and Jean Harlow. Appearing in her breakout role in the film Stand Up and Cheer at the age of 5, she was a little girl with a near-prodigy level talent for dance, singing, and acting (she even has a tap combination named after her). A frantic radio producer must find the perfect Little Miss America for an advertiser's national program and discovers her in his country neighbor. I'm so glad TCM is showing this one. It's one of Shirley's best films! Good story, great songs, comedy and wonderful pairing of Shirley w/Bill Robinson. This one has it all! See more 04/24/2019 Very sweet movie for all ages.
