In the Bronx during the late 1980s, marriage-minded Donna (Annabella Sciorra) is engaged to the immature, commitment-phobic Michael (Ron Eldard). When the elaborate wedding plans go into motion, however, Donna begins to have second thoughts, and Michael has the same old commitment issues. The two must work through some nagging doubts; namely, if they are right for one another. With both pairs of feet growing cold, Donna and Michael still have friends and family who expect to see a wedding.

Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times This is a subtle movie that invites us to read between the lines. It suggests that a lot of couples may be married to marriage rather than to each other. Rated: 3/4 Sep 4, 2004 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Nancy Savoca is never condescending with her characters. She treats them with affection, and that's why you laugh with them, not at them. Under the scrutiny of such an ethnographic gaze, perhaps it is not so bad remaining invisible. May 20, 2020 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Nancy Savoca's first (and still best) film shows a good, sensitive ear to the lingo and subculture of this ethnic milieu, of both genders. Competing at Sudance Fest in 1989, it won the jury award for best drama. Audience Member watch full amazing movie online on https://glamcinema.com/ Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/25/24 Full Review Audience Member True love is a great thing but how do two people keep it together before tying the knot? Annabella Sciorra and Ron Eldard play Donna and Michael Both of them live in the Bronx during the 1980s and have just gotten engaged Everyone is excited for the big wedding but they have to overcome a lot of challenges not just the ceremony arrangements but also emotional ones Michael is a commitment-phobe and is still a bit immature Donna may begin to have second thoughts Falling in love is easy but also hard, it’s about adjustment, trust, communication, growing up It’s a story for all of us that takes a lot of work to stay alive There’s a lot of character moments which does work to help see these two and their flaws Although 10 min could’ve been shaved off near the end Even two people have to look at the bigger picture before taking the plunge for the rest of their lives Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Gina B Such a great movie!!! Lots of people in this movie have become stars!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/07/24 Full Review david f A big, sprawling, Italian-American film set in a borough of NYC with a realistic depiction of the lead up to, and consummation of, a wedding. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review s r An interesting look at love in the bronx. It raises good questions about young relationships and about what is important to make things last.
