Audience Member Maybe she was never there. Jimmy and Rose are young adults. Rose obviously likes Jimmy, but he only sees her as a friend. They find a strange woman, Renee Baker, who Jimmy becomes obsessed with. Renee tags along, but quickly becomes annoyed with the obsession, until it becomes borderline unhealthy, then she becomes worried. Who is this strange Renee Baker? "Pretend we're lovers." "Kiss me then." Neil Jordan, director of Crying Game, Ondine, Breakfast on Pluto, The End of the Affair, Michael Collins, Byzantium, and The Butcher Boys, delivers The Miracle. The storyline for this picture is very interesting and unfold well but definitely has some awkward moments. I enjoyed the acting and the cast includes Beverly D'Angelo, Donald McCann, Tom Hickey, and Jer O'Leary. "She wants to hide." I came across this on Netflix and thought I'd give it a shot. This was better than I anticipated and I enjoyed the story. This is a better than average drama with a unique coming of age aspect. The relationships in this were entertaining and unique. I recommend seeing this once. "My hair, like a sea shell, on the hay..." Grade: B- Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member One of Jordan's best, though I'm now seeing his tendency towards melodrama was fairly prevalent; like Mona Lisa this starts out funny and snappy and entertaining, and gets way too serious by the third act. He doesn't seem to know how to introduce conflict without making his actors yell and scream and carry on. It still works, though, and Rose is fucking fantastic. That's how you write strong female characters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting premise, earnestly performed, but just not entirely convincing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Well acted, but not particularly profound story that helped put Neil Jordan on the map. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member another winner from director Jordan (the crying game) in this irish romance flick. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member PAN AND SCAN. Hay brillantez en la escritura y la dirección de Neil Jordan, pero se sobreextiende... y no por poco. Qué pena que Beverly D'Angelo no haya actuado en más películas. / There is brilliance in Neil Jordan's writing and direction, but it overextends... and not by a little. What a shame Beverly D'Angelo didn't act in more movies. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Ansen Newsweek Shot with startling dream sequences, punctuated by surreal circus imagery, propelled by Anne Dudley's sublimely moody score, The Miracle creates a world charged with youthful romanticism yet tempered by the comic tranquillity of recollection. Feb 7, 2018 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The Miracle opens with small enchantments and a warmth of feeling, and then at around the midway point gets bogged down in miscalculations that are finally fatal.
