Kathleen Maher Austin Chronicle Rated: 2/5 Sep 23, 2002 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The plot machinery creaks in Paradise, and it grinds exceedingly slow, and finally what it produces is a nice little movie about two children, and a contrived big movie about two adults. Audience Member This movie is so beautiful. Just...i have no words. Such a rare gem, glad i found it. Elijah Wood was so cute when he was a child in the 90s. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review kevin c Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith play a couple struggling to deal with a recent tragedy who take in the young son of a friend for the summer. Elijah Wood plays the young Willard who befriends the tomboy neighbor played by Thora Birch. Wood was a pretty cute and capable actor even at such a young age. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Can't believe the ratings are so low I adored this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I've loved this movie since I was a kid ! Subtle acting, beautiful cinematography, a wonderful coming of age movie. You forget what wonderful actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith were! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Frances H Bittersweet tale of family relationships and a childhood friendship. Once again, the critics hated it because it rang of true human feelings and wasn't depressing as hell. Thora Birch and Elijal Wood were adorable.
