Steve D Passable but unremarkable version. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review Sara A This is the 1969 version of Dickens' David Copperfield. Love it! The story is so good it can be told in a hundred different ways. Here many or much is in flashback. I like this non linnear structure. Each actor is so strong that David Copperfield is overwhelmed by their acting. That is a casting error. Too many cooks spoil the broth. Sometimes choosing less famous actors is better. I need to watch Cuckor's 1935 version which supposedly is superior. The third version and on and on it goes. The greatness can be served up any which way just make Copperfield the center of the wheel. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/11/22 Full Review Audience Member A well adaptation set on beautiful beaches and other land or lands, has good romance, and the ships as houses are pretty cool in this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member First row seats we're at tables that were 18 in in diameter with four people. Unbelievable. You could not even cross your legs. There's no service in the theater. The show consists of David walking around and talking in a non script shirt and a microphone poorly placed. His monotone fast-paced speech indicates impassive and Tire delivery and you can clearly see either resentment or a lack of interest of any kind. I mean I can understand it the guy has gotten old and he's been doing this twice a day everyday. But for the kind of money charged this was pretty sad. There were some good tricks but he basically ruined them with his lackluster and monotone delivery. Be warned that he will demand that you applaud. I would not recommend this show to anybody except my enemies. Seriously now come on. With the kind of money this theater and show and casino makes they should really Elevate the production value and give David Copperfield a little vacation maybe a spa or a massage or something so he will feel better Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review kevin w A moody Copperfield roams the beach lost in thoughts of the life that brought him there. Seems like a good idea, maybe, but the execution is tiresome and his mournful walks on the beach get to be old ... fast. Although the performances seem to understand something of the popular English tale, the director does not, and this production is more like a slough through the beach at Normandy during the D-Day Invasion than anything else. Pass. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Dicken's tale of a boy who grows up through hardships to become a successful writer gets another retelling in Mann's film, which is confusingly hard to follow and seems to have a rushed and careless screenplay. The good performances by the talented cast make the film seem all the more frustratingly incomplete. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Penelope Houston The Spectator The whole enterprise [has] a curious air of rather smug dejection-luxuriant moping, allied to considerable self-satisfaction. Jul 11, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
