Matt R Vincent Price is Dr. Robert Morgan and is the last man on Earth as all other humans have been turned into zombie-like vampires by a plague. Based on Richard Matheson's 1954 novel I AM LEGEND, the post-apocalyptic tale was influential on many including George Romero. There have been other screen adaptations but I'll go with Vincent Price every time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review S R A bizarre Italian post apocalyptic movie all in English. It had potential, but so much of it didn't make sense and was half-baked. Saw on TCM. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review nick s Intriguing enough story to keep watching. Production quality was not great and action scenes bordering on comical. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/09/23 Full Review CodyZamboni This movie beats Will Smith's version. Vincent Price's film is more intense, scary, and bleak. The low budget constraints just help to add to the authentic creepy, apocalyptic vibe. It was nice seeing Vincent Price playing a tragic hero, for a change. As the movie unfolded, like alot of viewers , I noticed a visual connection to Night of the Living Dead, with the black and white, stark compositions, the slow shuffling vampires, and the simple, but eeriely effective makeup fx. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review Michael S Horrible. So many logical inconsistancies it's nearly impossible not to laugh at. Just lazy production/directing. Horrible, horrible acting. The story doesn't make sense. The inner monologue was dumb. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/06/23 Full Review Chris M I heard this was the closet to the source material of "I Am Legend" compared to the other versions that came out over the decades since this came out. Those would be, "The Omega Man" and "I Am Legend". I think I know why all three versions stink, the source material. The book stinks. NO SPOILERS but all three change the ending. But the original ending is bad too. But this is the only version with a flashback showing the doctor giving himself the only vaccine that survived. Plus for pure vampires, pure enough to be repelled by crucifixes, sunlight and garlic but shamble like zombies. But are repelled by their reflection because they hate what they look like? If they wanted that then spend some money on prosthetic effects as they don't look like monsters. Plus they went with all the other vampire clichés. Why would they have reflections at all? A first bad attempt of a really bad book to begin with. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jerry Renshaw Austin Chronicle A chilling study of loneliness and an acting tour de force for Price as the last survivor of a dead race, and not exactly the feel-good movie of 1964. Dec 10, 2007 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader Some would consider this version better than the 1971 remake with Charlton Heston, The Omega Man, but that isn't much of an achievement. Dec 10, 2007 Full Review Kristin Battestella InSession Film Though at times dated, the intimate ruminations, needs for companionship, and personal versus society questions remain thought provoking examinations on the arrogance of man and humanity’s shortsightedness. Apr 19, 2024 Full Review Kevin Carr Fat Guys at the Movies A somewhat faithful adaptation of Richard Matheson’s story that drags to a crawl with an aimless script. Rated: 2/4 Mar 9, 2024 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Will there ever be a truly fine adaptation of Richard Matheson's novel I Am Legend? For now, this will do, edging out Will Smith's fairly interesting I Am Legend and far outpacing Charlton Heston's terrible The Omega Man. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 10, 2021 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid Feels just a little shabby and tired, but still effectively conveying the mood. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 3, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
