Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The main reason it's worth watching is to catch a sleazy Peter Lorre in action. william k Doom-laden and mildly intense Noir drama with Peter Lorre stealing the show and with an ending more improbable than the twisted plot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review ashley h Quicksand is a boring film. It is about an auto mechanic who falls into increasingly disastrous circumstances for more and more money which rapidly spirals out of his control. Mickey Rooney and Jeanne Cagney give disappointing performances. The screenplay is badly written. Irving Pichel did a horrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It's not an effectively suspenseful movie. Jeanne Cagney puts on an insignificant, but exceptional performance. Mickey Rooney is surprisingly excellent at this very different role from others throughout his career. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review kevin w Mickey Rooney is pretty good (providing one can divorce oneself from his better known persona as a Disney tour guide cliché) as a chump whose one baby mistake snowballs into a swamp of troubles. Peter Lorre is also good as a carnival owner who's looked at one too many tough guys and still is not impressed. They both put their own money into this decent noir about the predictable payoff for cutting corners in life. Barbara Bates brings home the bacon too as the girl-gone-wrong. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Quicksand as a movie doesn't get stuck in a quagmire--That Sinking Feeling!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Talk about a bad week!!! Mickey Rooney's life snow-balls in to the week from Hell !!! Will he get threw it ok? I'm not gonna ruin the movie for you. Well acted by Rooney (one of his best performances) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
