Audience Member Overall, I found this film to be highly enjoyable. It's a dramatic film, but I also found it rather touching and heartfelt right from the start. As a remake of the original 1951 feature, this film is unforgettable thanks to the performance of Albert Finney. The film is unpredictable, and I found myself highly invested in the leading characters and everything surrounding them. The pacing is great, and audiences will be hooked fairly early once the film introduces the main plot outline. In the end, I found this feature to be quite surprising and rather entertaining- a must-watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review Philip S The Browning Version is one of my favorite screenplays by Terence Rattigan. Hard to decide which is better - the earlier film version with Sir Michael Redgrave - or this one with Albert Finney. Both are excellent productions - each with with an exquisite lead actor. If you liked this film - another screenplay by Rattigan is entitled The Winslow Boy. It also is a terrific film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/03/22 Full Review Tim P I found this a very engaging film even in 2021, some 27 yrs after being made. Finney is magnificent and Greta Scaachi's eyes let you know all about her character immediately, a truly memorable combination. The school detailing is both accurate and isealistic at times, but that is easy to live with. I was pleased to find it amongst UK Sky Movies Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/13/21 Full Review Audience Member A very moving rendition of an accomplished teacher, who is unfortunately unloved by many, due to his stern demeanor. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member While this version is more superficial and not as bleak or ultimately as powerful as the original 1951 movie, it is a good movie in it's own right with great performances from a well chosen cast. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Zack F If you are going to adapt a fantastic play into a film, stick to the bloody script, and don't add in unnecessary swearing.
