Manuel T This movie really stunk. I agree with the critics. Helen Slater is a ditzy actress. Russell Crowe was truly awful, and the Asian guy was believable. The Asian actress was so pretty. Too bad she had a minor role in this flop Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review jwcdood NO WAY BACK is a seriously bad screenplay, complete with a hackneyed and silly script that has no redemption possible; the director probably is still in therapy and the cast probably realized how very low they actually would stoop for money about half way through filming and I actually endured watching something like this [and managed to not go into a coma]. 'Nuf said. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review Michael A Why on earth is Russel Crow in this horribly written and disastrously directed movie?? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/24/23 Full Review Steve D B- movie cheese but the fun kind. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Not awful, not great. Russell Crowe is, as ever, a pleasure to watch. He is better than the script and Helen Slater does the same in her own way. The music for this movie is poorly chosen; about a decade too late, brings nothing but distraction. Cinematography is curious, angles that seem sometimes chosen for convenience not affect, close ups mismatched with double frames. Weird. But the story itself is much better than the Michael Douglas comparison someone made. That's just the critic's laziness and inattention. This flick is enjoyable. Crowe keeps the viewer engaged. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member I find it hard to believe that I could dislike any film starring Russell Crowe, but this one is a complete waste of his talent -- and my time. I'd like to say that his acting job was a "rose among the thorns" but I don't think that even he was convincing. He was a foul-tongued protagonist [with an ugly hair-style that even his character couldn't have thought was becoming] who over-reacted to everything in this tortured and unbelievable plot.
