In a remake of the 1950s classic, bias and group-think influence the deliberations of a dozen jury members. Initially, one of the jurors (Jack Lemmon) is the only roadblock between the panel and unanimous conviction of the Latino alleged murderer they've been called to judge. But the all-male jury's negotiations prove fluid, and as the hours pass, more and more of the dissenter's peers come over to his side. Before long, the trial of an oppressed youth becomes a meditation on social justice.

Farah Cheded A Good Movie To Watch Remaking Sidney Lumet’s 1957 classic ought to have been a mortifying lesson in hubris, but [...] this stands as a compelling argument that every era should have its own 12 Angry Men. Oct 28, 2023 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Even though this version of 12 Angry Men is a remake, William Friedkin's direction and the star-studded cast are what help make the 1997 film worth viewing. Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Frank J. Avella Edge Media Network What makes this incarnation so riveting are the performances, as strangely out-of-sync with one another as they are. Friedkin shows no desire to make certain his actors are on the same page, or even in the same book, when it comes to tone and style Rated: B- Feb 18, 2022 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed A very disappointing version of the classic stage play... Film_Enjoyer Still holds up well today due to the strength of the writing and performances. Each character had quite a distinctive personality and served as a representative for each walk of life in society, and the actors were convincing in humanizing each role. Usually single-room dramas struggle to keep my attention but this was a great microcosm of social issues and biases and bigotries clashing, I did take a break in the middle but enjoyed the whole film. Contrasted with today, it really made me yearn for a time when people would talk to each other with respect even during heated debates - I don't know when that became rare exactly, but I think it was somewhere during the social media age and the endless culture wars pushed right wing media. Let's revive it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Alec B A strong remake. It can't hold a candle to the original but doesn't try to surpass that masterpiece. Rather this version remixes and finds new little things. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/14/24 Full Review Dan R 1997's '12 Angry Men' is a remake of the 1957's classic movie of the same name. SYNOPSIS: 'Twelve men must decide the fate of one when one juror objects to the jury's decision.' Remaking such a classic film as the 1957 original really shouldn't work. If anything it should be almost sacrilegious. However, the 1997 version stands as an example of how remakes can work and creates a compelling argument that every era should have its own version of this story. I'd love to see a modern version of this now, especially as technology has moved on so much. So very much worth a watch! 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/10/24 Full Review Daniel B Utterly gripping from start to finish! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review John H A modernized and maybe a more realistic free remake of a good movie. While it feels more real, it feels more convoluted and maybe less dramatic. Still well worth viewing Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Gordon H I thought the lines for Mykelti were strangely unrealistic in the front end of the deliberating. Otherwise, good theater, not great. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
