peter w Lang manages to walk that fine line between comedy and drama, although, in spite of some comedic scenes, I see it leaning towards drama given the theme of staring over after serving time with the conflicting loyalties that ensue. On the comedic side, the "honeymoon dining" scene was a charming diversion that speaks to making do in spite of challenges. As always, Lang provides striking visual images, including his early foray into Art Deco. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review ashley h You and Me is a decent film. It is about a department-store owner who hires ex-convicts in order to give them a second chance at life. Sylvia Sidney and George Raft give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Fritz Lang did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the romance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Lang's 3rd American film an odd but mostly successful mix of genres--A heck of a lot of fun!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member good noir from director fritz lang Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It's pretty great. An eclectic Bretchian film and part musical. It's often stunning visually. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Odd mix of comedy, crime drama, and social message picture from Fritz Lang (complete with songs by Kurt Weill), starring George Raft as an ex-con going straight (banking on his gangster image) and Silvia Sydney as his love interest with a secret. The film has a soft spot for lovably oddball ex-criminals arguing that society should give them a chance (even while presenting them as one step away from pulling their next job) but it is a bit flat-footed in the plot department. Too many of the actions here seem wrong-headed or out-of-step for these characters (as built up). Nevertheless, Lang presents it all with style.
