Alec B The meaning of the title may be obvious but Sayles is more concerned with what people do to survive in impossible situations than trying to find a deeper meaning. The way the narrative unfolds, as a road movie with characters showing up to represent various perspectives and harsh realities, is quite brilliant. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review dustin d John Sayles demonstrates a good movie can be made outside the Hollywood system. Men with Guns is about how the defenseless will always be pushed around by those with arbitrary power. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review jerry z Wrong Movie info for Men with Guns Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Another Sayles masterpiece. Where did that guy go anyways? I realize that the quality of his films has deteriorated but surely he has more stories to tell us? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member One of John Sayles' best films that even many of his fans haven't seen. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent Sayles film about government and violence clashing with the lives of the people. The single character going back to try and find the students he sent into the wild to doctor the locals is a perfect frame to drop in other elements along the journey. Sayles' character development and direction is so very good as a viewer you know each new character will be a new journey in itself.
