What to Know

Critics Consensus

Even though Oscar-bearers Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie, and Robert Duval came aboard for this project, the quality of Gone in 60 Seconds is disappointingly low. The plot line is nonsensical, and even the promised car-chase scenes are boring.

David Ansen Newsweek What's missing from Gone in 60 Seconds is anything new. There's a "been there, done that" feeling to the enterprise. Mar 6, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Check your brain at the door, enjoy with popcorn. Rated: 3/5 Dec 24, 2010 Full Review Richard Corliss TIME Magazine In this film we learn that it takes 8,000 lbs. of pressure to crush a car but only one credited screenwriter (Scott Rosenberg) to pound out such a lame script. Sep 19, 2008 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn This movie has issues and is all over the place but I enjoyed the madness of it all. Rated: 3/5 Apr 21, 2024 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn I've definitely seen worse but there stereotypes and odd performances in this half-hearted heist film made it a chore to get through. Rated: 2/5 Apr 21, 2024 Full Review Chuck Klosterman Akron Beacon Journal It's too stupid to be offensive, but it's also not edgy enough to be funny. This is just bad in every direction. John Z Further proof that movie critics are completly useless. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/27/25 Full Review Don kern This movie has given the characters a great depth of detail to their personality, what its lack merely the personal story behind it. The story itself was a bit bland, with the element of revenge perhaps it was forced. It'll be great if the movie add more reason and meaning to their robbery. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/25 Full Review Daniel M Watched for it for the first time in years and it was still enjoyable, definitely a classic from back in the day. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/30/25 Full Review william s Haven't watched this one in ages and gotta say.... It was a ton of fun. And not just in a "so bad it's good" kind of way. I think it just straight up works. It's not pretentious, doesn't take itself too seriously, just sets out to tell a relatively simple story and have some fun while doing it. I wish there was more of that. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Melissa L I love Nic Cage’s movies, so I wanted to give this one a watch. It’s pure fun and really exciting. The cast is great, and I really think it’s one of Nico’s best movies. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/04/25 Full Review Audience Member Fun and stupid car heist movie. Turn your brain off, stop asking questions, and have a blast! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
