After surviving a car accident, Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) wakes up to find herself in an underground bunker with two men. Howard (John Goodman) tells her that a massive chemical attack has rendered the air unbreathable, and their only hope of survival is to remain inside. Despite the comforts of home, Howard's controlling and menacing nature makes Michelle want to escape. The acting was excellent, and John Goodman does not disappoint. I fault the ending however; as I'm not a fan of the the supernatural or alien invasions. It seems like a reverse deus ex machina type of cop out.

The movie was amazing, the acting, the suspense, the cinematography... Until the end. John Goodman plays an amazing villain while also making you feel sympathy for him and want to know more about him. The dinner scene has to be one of the greatest suspense moments in film. The movie is really enjoyable and I couldn't stop watching. The only downside is the ending, they added an extra 10 minutes that didn't need to be there that seemed like it was just showing off CGI and trying to add more jump scares, if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about. Other than that it is a 10/10 experience.

A very good balance of suspense and mystery. The story keeps you guessing on who is right, what is happening, and who this mysterious bunker man is. The acting is great and although it can be a little over the top at times it helps create the suspense. Ending is interesting, not a net positive or negative to the movie but somewhere in-between. I would prefer if the movie didn't have the Cloverfield name, or if it had been the first movie in the series as it would have avoided any foreshadowing to the story.
