Critics Consensus

Though it may not reach for any new artistic heights, The Count of Monte Cristo is an old-fashioned yet enjoyable swashbuckler.

Nell Minow Common Sense Media A thoroughly enjoyable movie for older kids. The Wandering D An awesome film that is just so classic and so interesting. The cast does an excellent job with the film and the visuals are spectacular. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Jack M I was very disappointed with the movie starting from when Dantes escapes from Chateau d'If. In the book, 2/3 of the book is dedicated to the revenge. Here, it was considerably less and they changed the nature of the revenge. The Richard Chamberlain and the Tony Curtis versions were much closer to the book. I would skip this version. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Andy C One of my all time favorite movies Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/25 Full Review Cudalbu R This movie is our Lost Treasure of Monte Cristo. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Audience Member Well crafted plot. Very entertaining! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Charles O There was a time when the events of the world made sense. I believe that's when this movie was made. It speaks to me in ways that I wouldn't admit to anyone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews
