Empire Magazine Rated: 4/5 Apr 1, 2006 Full Review Tom Dawson BBC.com Rated: 2/5 Mar 16, 2004 Full Review Lisa Kennedy Denver Post Carnage has some narrative messiness. But the beautiful thing here - besides Gleize's fabulous eye - is that not a single one of her solutions for the healing that takes place in her characters' lives is predictable. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 8, 2004 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher Delphine Gleize achieves a mastery of the visual, the metaphoric, and the dramatic that few other veteran filmmakers could pull off. Aug 8, 2004 Full Review Kent Turner Film-Forward.com [Director] Gleize has nevertheless written an imaginative and loopy script where the twisting storylines, each with its own distinct tone, eventually connect. Audience Member An ensemble movie tying 6 seemingly unrelated stories together. The narrative is complex and sometimes hard to follow, and demands viewer's attention to fully appreciate it. The cast is excellent as well as cinematography, and the movie is mesmerizing at times. However, as a whole, it doesn't work as well as the sum of its parts, partly due to just too much going on and too many contrivances to tie the story together. Also, on more than one occasion the dialog made little sense - perhaps something was lost in translation. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A unique film that weaves different lives together through one event - the killing of a bull in a bullfight. There are many elements to the movie and it's sometimes hard to see how everything relates to each other but all is revealed by the end. Odd bits of humor are thrown in this otherwise interesting but mostly serious tale. I really enjoyed this movie. I think the cinematography is well done and even the plot (although strange) easily draws you in. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member i enjoyed watching this film but had a hard time following the plot. i understood what was happening by the end of the film but wrestled with how the story got there. this movie is worth checking out. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member So vivid, so new, so underrated. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member this film blends several stories into a mish mash of social commentary and statements on the human condition. it was bright, beautiful and esoteric. the soundtrack was powerful and gave the film a palpability that truly made it stick in my memory. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Horrible. Boring and a waste of time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
