      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Its deliberately unfocused narrative may frustrate some viewers, but The Company finds Altman gracefully applying his distinctive eye to the world of dance.

steve d Far too much time trying to look like a documentary when it should have been worried about a plot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review dave j Similar to other Robert Altman (who was also credited as a producer) movies where there are several different characters all talking at once or at the same time as viewers are invested in the ballet/ dance "the company"- hence the title, and how it operates itself with Alberto (Malcolm McDowell) being the man in charge. Co-produced and starring Neve Campbell as Ry short for Ryan as she is attempting to succeed as the other dancers do with a side job working as a waitress. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member It’s a beautiful homage to ballet; but, seriously, what was the point of this film? Brava to Campbell and the dance company, but jeers to Altman and his writers for forgetting to write a PLOT. Unsung heroes: the poor bastards who had to try to market this film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/18 Full Review kirby p This movie blows so hard I couldn't watch it. Gave up after a half hour and fast-forwarded through the rest. It didn't get any better. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review william s Campbell is excellent but the movie is all over the place, some may like that I did not. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Altman's signature fly-on-the-wall modus operandi on the ins and outs of a ballet company makes great infotainment and the purposeless story is just a pathetic backdrop.
