BRizz 2 Are We There Yet?, starring Ice Cube and Nia Long, is one of those early-2000s family comedies that tries hard to be charming but ends up feeling more exhausting than entertaining. To be fair, the director did a decent job piecing together a storyline that has its moments of humor and heart. However, the real issue here lies in the writing. The script feels all over the place—dragging in some spots and going completely over the top in others. Rather than feeling like clever comedy, the humor often comes across as forced or repetitive. One of my biggest gripes is with the house scene and the realtor, which felt ridiculously exaggerated to the point where it wasn’t funny anymore—it just felt nonsensical. Sure, comedies stretch reality, but this was a little too much for me. The child acting, particularly from the daughter, also didn’t help. Her performance felt stiff and unnatural, which pulled me out of the movie every time. Even Ice Cube, who can be charming when given the right material, felt just “okay” here—he didn’t have much to work with. Nia Long, on the other hand, is the only real saving grace of this movie. She’s the one bright spot, delivering the kind of performance that shows why she’s such a respected actress. If I had to rate it, I’d give it 1 star ⭐—and that’s purely because of Nia Long. Otherwise, it’s a rough watch and one I wouldn’t recommend. If you’re looking for a family comedy, there are far better options that don’t feel as misdirected and messy as this one. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/27/25 Full Review Kenechukwu Kingsley O You see, I like movies like this because it just is supposed to be relaxing to watch.....how you "CRITICS" watch movies like this without relaxing is beyond me. Giving a normal everyday relaxing atmosphere of a movie 2 stars. Unbelievable Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/26/25 Full Review Mikey B Loud, obnoxious, unfunny movie that shows children in dangerous situations and thinks its funny. In bad taste and without laughs Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/05/25 Full Review Gumpy T Was pretty surprised by how low of a score this got. One of my favorite films, with a great and super entertaining cast. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/11/25 Full Review Koi P Fun, entertaining movie.
