Marshal T This movie is extremely deep, thought provoking, and intense. It will leave you thinking hard for a while, and it will awaken a new perspective for life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Antihrist P One of the best, if not the best, indie masterpieces in decades. Extremely emotionally charged, original and masterfully directed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/08/23 Full Review Courtney A The character, story and dialogue are astounding! I absolutely love the tragic tale and how it all unfolds into something beautiful! I love the world creation with the dreams, the incubus and the depiction of the land of the dead. Jacob steals the show in all the best ways! I have seen this movie too many times to count and will happily rank it in my top 10 without hesitation! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review Jeffrey P Modern fantasy film in a city and urban setting. Aims to be a dreamlike and surreal story that is heartfelt and moving but I just didn't feel it. Drags on towards the end, focus gone, and at the point where it becomes a matter of 'get on with it!' Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Finn H Lots of mixed reviews about this one. Personally, I think that's the hallmark of good art. Art designed around mass appeal has its place, but this is the opposite of that. I don't remember thinking too much about, or identifying with, the characters in a Star Wars or Transformers movie. But Ink had me pondering each character as a manifestation of part of myself, and examining myself to see which were dominant. Lines like, "...One thing begets the next. A man has a weakness, he's flawed. That flaw leads him to guilt. The guilt leads him to shame. The shame he compensates with pride and vanity. And when pride fails, despair takes over and they all lead to his destruction..." got me to looking at other people and myself in completely new ways. I guess Yoda has some pithy zingers, too, but it's not really the same for me. You just have to watch this one and see if it resonates with you. Robert Abele Los Angeles Times There's a rapacious DIY showmanship at work here reminiscent of the calling-card chutzpah Robert Rodriguez and Peter Jackson showed in scrappier, pre-blockbuster days. Rated: 3/5 Sep 11, 2009 Full Review Lisa Kennedy Denver Post As action-packed as his film is, Winans is in no hurry to tell his tale. His pace is deliberate. Sep 10, 2009 Full Review Anton Bitel Eye for Film Winans is at his best in the visual realm, and the early sections of his film, in which supernatural entities are seen wordlessly working their nightshifts, prove highly effective examples of narrative economy. Apr 15, 2011 Full Review Cole Abaius Film School Rejects A movie that needs to be seen, and it's a film that deserves to be celebrated. Sep 10, 2009 Full Review JimmyO JoBlo's Movie Network Absolutely one of the best films of 2009. Rated: 9.5/10 Sep 10, 2009 Full Review Luke Y. Thompson L.A. Weekly Has all the ambition of a Terry Gilliam or Jean-Pierre Jeunet epic. Sep 10, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews
