andrei d Un pic road movie, un pic suprarealist, nitel espre droguri, nitel despre L.A., nitel despre dragoste, foarte frumos Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Two documentary filmmakers and a "recovering" junkie tour L.A. in search of $5000 for the latter's rehab admittance fee. I lost patience with this film fairly quickly. Its conceit is that it's a documentary shot by one of the main characters, but in order to fit his penchant for quick cuts and scenic shots, director and lead actor Tao Ruspoli frequently breaks his own rules. The result is a film that's about its style when it wants to be and I don't know what when it finds the style too constricting. The main character, Leo, is a classic bullshit artist, a fact that's painfully obvious from the beginning. If my brother desperately needed money, I'd surely spend the day with him to try to scare it up, but if he were this annoying, I'd think twice about it. Leo's got a modicum of charm, but most of it is swallowed by his mercurial nonsense, making it inconceivable that Bella and Milo would work so hard to save him. Overall, Fix is full of things that annoy rather than entertain. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Stupid, lame, waste of time.. No substance Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member shot fuex doc style tells the story of 2 brothers one trying 2 get the other into rehab 2 avoid prison. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A super interesting take and perspective. The third wall fallen and Olivia Wilde takes it down to Chinatown! There's an awful lot of shaky camera work, but that's part of the appeal. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Good acting, great use of a wide range of LA locations. Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Propelled by an eccentric cast of characters and increasingly seamy locations, Fix dashes headlong through Los Angeles with a little charm and a lot of verve. Rated: 4/5 Nov 20, 2009 Full Review Kyle Smith New York Post Rated: 1/4 Nov 20, 2009 Full Review Nick Schager Slant Magazine Ruspoli's scenic cross-section L.A. travelogue conveys a strong sense of milieu even as his wannabe-Strung aesthetics reveal the project's underlying style-over-substance concerns. Rated: 1/4 Nov 15, 2009 Full Review Sarah Sluis Film Journal International An energetic, handheld-camera account of a day spent trying to deposit someone in rehab. Aug 15, 2011 Full Review Brent Simon Shared Darkness Caffeinated travelogue Fix pulses with a brash and seductive visual style, but the human drama at the core of its premise ultimately feels a bit underdeveloped; with montages galore, Fix becomes a slave to its insistent artiness. Rated: C- Oct 28, 2009 Full Review JimmyO JoBlo's Movie Network If any one of these actors weren't up to the task, FIX wouldn't work. Thankfully, they are real enough to want to invest in their plight. Rated: 7.5/10 Nov 28, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews
