Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh There are worse vampire movies out there, but this is a major downgrade from the original installment, full of forgettable characters and a flat visual aesthetic. Rated: 2/5 Sep 12, 2025 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...the film is, in the final analysis, simply unable to live up to the better-than-average standard set by its superior predecessor. Rated: 2/4 Oct 26, 2010 Full Review R.L. Shaffer IGN DVD Dark Days is hardly mediocre, but barely interesting; lacking a solid hook like the first film. Rated: 6/10 Oct 14, 2010 Full Review Scott Weinberg FEARnet A clever vampire concept devolves into another chintzy 'Blade' knock-off. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 3, 2010 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed Prominent with a lagging pace, a dull atmosphere, lack of real scares, and a plot filled with holes and lapses in logic... Oct 1, 2010 Full Review Brian Orndorf BrianOrndorf.com An engaging diversion, making the most out of its limited resources, boosted by a capable cast and some nifty make-up effects. In fact, it's a more satisfying bloodsucker yarn than the 2007 original. Rated: B- Sep 27, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews

TheMovieSearch R 30 Days of Night: Dark Days is a sequel that manages to surpass the original—not in quality, but in sheer disappointment. Coming off the first film, which already left much to be desired, this follow-up fails to capture any of the tension or atmosphere that even a mediocre horror film should offer. From the outset, it’s clear that the sequel lacks both purpose and connection to its predecessor. One of the most glaring issues is the absence of the original cast. By ignoring the characters and actors that gave even a minimal sense of continuity, the film immediately alienates anyone who might have been invested in the story. The narrative tries to push forward without building on anything from the first film, leaving a sense that this is a completely disconnected story rather than a continuation. It robs the audience of any potential emotional anchor or familiar faces, which is crucial in a franchise intended to expand a horror universe. The screenplay is weak and unfocused. There’s no clear direction for the plot, and the story feels like it was cobbled together from random ideas without concern for coherence. It meanders aimlessly, attempting to manufacture suspense or drama that never lands. Characters are thinly sketched, and their motivations are often vague or inconsistent. The dialogue is clunky, and the pacing is uneven, making it difficult to stay engaged even for short stretches. Direction and overall execution do little to improve the experience. Scenes feel flat and uninspired, lacking the atmospheric tension that might have salvaged a weak script. While the visual style attempts to maintain the dark, cold tone of the original, it ends up feeling generic and hollow. The film’s tone wavers, unsure whether it wants to be a horror-thriller or a simple creature-feature, leaving the audience with little sense of urgency or dread. As for the actors, there’s little to criticize because the film doesn’t give them much to work with. Performances are functional at best, but they can’t overcome the structural flaws of the story or the lack of meaningful stakes. Without the original cast to anchor the film, the new characters feel disposable, further emphasizing the sense of a squandered opportunity. Ultimately, 30 Days of Night: Dark Days is a disappointing sequel that fails on almost every level. By neglecting continuity, providing a weak screenplay, and delivering uninspired direction, it squanders any potential the franchise might have had. It’s a forgettable horror sequel that’s not worth revisiting, and even fans of the first film will struggle to find anything redeeming in this follow-up. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/25 Full Review Ezekiel R i just can't with this one tbh the first one is a classic tbh a true testament to its time but this one just fails at everything it does and it doesn't live up at all the first one i can always go back and watch but this one is truly so bad that i couldn't even recommend it to you even if you love vampire horror movies. its not worth your watch if you want a descent movie then just go watch the first one Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Keith S DID NOT LIVE UP TO THE FIRST ONE (SPOILERS) Had potential, never lived up to it. Not the same stella (still pretty tho) We visually see eben explode into ashes in the first one but somehow she has his charred remains in the second one? They learn that only vampire blood brings them back but stella, who remains human the entire movie, is able to bring the vampire back with her human blood!?!?! They seriously had some major plot holes in this one. Corny ass long stares and overly under-budgeted dramatic cues. Under budgeted that's all I have to say Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Jelisije J Look this film had a good premise and this franchise definitely had potential for sequels but the execution of this film and how it presented itself was straight awful. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/20/24 Full Review Beatle R It had potential just didn't live up to it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/22/23 Full Review Floyd B Wasn't as good as the first 1. But very watchable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
