      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It's sporadically funny and it benefits from a talented cast, but 30 Minutes or Less suffers from a disjointed narrative, and too often mistakes crude gags for true lowbrow humor.

Audience Member Some funny moments here and there, but overall a forgettable and unimpressive movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review Luis This is literally the worst move I've ever seen! 😂 it's horrible! Corny lines and horrible acting. Story line all over the place. (A) for effort but damn! I guess experience is all that matters. But I need my time back 😂 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Jacob B 30 Minutes or Less is sporadically funny, has a good set-up and a talented cast with Fred Ward stealing the show for me, but this is otherwise a fairly underwhelming crime comedy. I think this can mostly be boiled down to the fact that this movie is really short and definitely feels that way. The abrupt ending doesn't help. If you look at the deleted scenes, most of them really should've been in the final film since it ties things up in a nice bow and could've fixed the pacing issues. The comedy sometimes clashing with the tense time-limit narrative, with Jesse Eisenberg's bomb vest predicament being taken very seriously, might also have contributed to the mixed feelings. In conclusion, Ruben Fleischer does his best with the material he has to work with and I liked some of Danny McBride and Nick Swardson's Tarantino-style conversations but Zombieland, this is not, my friends. Ben Sachs Chicago Reader The film contains a remarkable level of violence, yet never establishes a tone that would make it seem funny or truly shocking; the jokes flounder in an air of half-hearted spite. Dec 6, 2011 Full Review Michael Leader Little White Lies Puerile, irritating and insultingly phallocentric. Rated: 1/5 Sep 16, 2011 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard 30 Minutes or Less has one of those screenplays that looks goodish on paper but is only a bit above average. Rated: 2/5 Sep 16, 2011 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The comedy reaches for broad laughs of the bromance and stoner kind, but not in a good way. Rated: 1/4 Mar 9, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Though it won't win any awards for its plot, the film does excel in the department it clearly directs all its efforts toward: dialogue. Rated: 7/10 Nov 30, 2020 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com While the film is far from a disaster, from a director who's already proven he's capable of so much more it's undeniably disappointing.
