Ted B 3.0 stars; Spooky movies that don't involve ghosts and/or demons, but rely on evil/psychotic people scare me much more than stories that have to rely on those types of gimmicks. Kristina Kiebe does a creditable job as a psycho, and Gene Jones as well as the hapless (?) victim, to make the film compelling. I loved the surprising story twist at the end. I felt it raised the movie from Drive-In to Theater quality for me. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/20/23 Full Review Emilliano Jr S Story was so simple, predictable but will keep you hangin at what will happen at end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review Keith P I was trying to think of the right word to describe this movie, and I think clumsy is it. It feels like it has no continuity. The acting of the old man's therapist is bizarre at times. Not sure if this was intentional or just bad acting. The father of the teenage girl looks like he's just a little older than her, so at first you're not sure if it's her boyfriend or what, so the casting could've been better. I could go on and on, but mostly if this was supposed to be a psychological thriller I think a cup of luke warm milk has more thrills than this movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review mauro l Mediocre with a conclusive ethical plot twist. (Mauro Lanari) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review farah r It's difficult to put to words exactly how this movie was. On one hand, the performances were decent and the plot line somewhat compelling. On the other hand however, it was just too slow paced for good suspense. I also wouldn't call it a horror; it's more of a thriller with a bad ending. There was so much potential that could've made Dementia a great movie. Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Dementia is a B-grade psychological thriller, but it often aspires to be much more, and as good as the performances are and as tight as the script might be Testin in arguably the chief reason for that. Rated: 3/4 Aug 18, 2016 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter The pic is compelling for the most part, with Jones' riveting performance as the alternately sympathetic and nasty protagonist anchoring the proceedings. Jan 4, 2016 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times "Dementia" is the rare low-budget suspense movie that values performance and character over hooky concepts and cheap thrills. Dec 10, 2015 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts Though the ending is quite sudden I think that everything kind of undid itself in a way that was interesting, different, unpredictable but also a little bit infuriating... It also does break down a lot of stereotypes in our movies. Rated: 5/10 Apr 30, 2021 Full Review Deirdre Crimmins Film Thrills Nothing here is new or particularly interesting, but it is well done. Jones, Cilella, and Klebe are all far better than the predictable film anticipates, and each of them fully embrace the role and make it their their own. Aug 20, 2018 Full Review Chris Alexander ShockTillYouDrop.com As good as Dementia is, its chief strength lies in [Gene] Jones' mesmerizing performance. May 20, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews
