Dave Kehr New York Times The Spanish wild man Alex de la Iglesia delivers a disappointingly well-behaved film with this sentimental comedy about a boy's reunion with his lovably eccentric grandfather. Rated: 2/5 Oct 29, 2004 Full Review Robert Dominguez New York Daily News Bizarre, bawdy and totally enjoyable. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 29, 2004 Full Review Kevin Crust Los Angeles Times It thinks it's cute, but it's as charming as an old drunk going on about how he knew Eastwood back in the day. Rated: 2/5 Oct 29, 2004 Full Review Daniel Eagan Film Journal International Lazy slapstick, farfetched melodrama and some fleeting nudity add up to a film that will mean little to those who aren't devotees of the genre. Mar 1, 2007 Full Review Sean Axmaker St@tic Multimedia ... a tribute to the magic of movies and moviemaking set and shot in Almeria, Spain (home to scores of sixties westerns). May 8, 2005 Full Review Keith Breese Filmcritic.com This isn't one of de la Iglesia's vitriolic works Rated: 3/5 Mar 29, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Spanish soap opera meets western spaghetti Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member (***): A fun flick. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Another fun one (though not as dark) from Alex de la Iglesia. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A funny, warm homage to the glory days of spaghetti westerns. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A family feud is resolved through a very dramatic, western style manner. Art direction was pretty good, and so was the overall acting. A pretty decent comedy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A film thats very hit and miss. but anyone whos into the spagetti westerns wil see something. set in a spanish town, where supposedly a lot of them were made, and a stuntman of the time helping run the town as a tourist atraction. the film is at times stylish, and many references to the genre, with some great namechecks. lots of flaws, and a very weird scene with a hooker seducing a very young kid with him touching her breasts fit uncomfortably. so overall a curious watch.
